You made it to the top; now what? Or maybe you’re still scrambling after a few decades and a handful of failures to get ”there.” Maybe you don’t even know where you’re going anymore, but you’ve got this default mode of ”hustle,” trusting that once you get there, you’ll know it and have peace.
But peace doesn’t come from accomplishment, especially when we have an insatiable appetite for it.
I heard it said by a friend that they know one day God will require more of them to work for Him in some sort of purpose. The truth is He requires more of us today, every day. He requires that we make His kingdom and priority list our first order of business.
A sign that we may be out of order is that we push and strive for our plans and spend much less time even thinking about what God would require of us. Or deceiving ourselves into believing that once we get everything just like we want it, we’ll focus on what God wants.
Did you know He can do more in 1 year than you can do in a lifetime? If you believe, trust, and obey. And this is just a theory from my personal experience…if He has big plans for you…your own will continue to fail until you concede.
The way to our plans can be found at the intersection of Disappointed and Broken.
If you are a child of God, consider His words. Please don’t take the Bible casually. Ask Him what makes you rich toward Him, and ask Him how to make deposits in heaven.
And if you aren’t, the Lord has good thoughts toward you. Ask Him today to lead, guide, and direct your steps, to take command of your life and redeem it, and to begin the adventure.
Today’s thoughts inspired by Luke 12:16-21
Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
“So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
